Troop 269 Camp Mountaineer 2024

 Camp has begun! The troop is checked in and we had an official tour but the boys still need to find where some of their merit badges are located. Thats where they learn to ask for help and read maps.  We had the Sunday evening dinner. It had mixed reviews from the tough critics under the age of 18 so parents back home must cook amazing food! They're off to opening campfire soon and then merit badges start tomorrow. Fortunately the weather turned out to be amazing today after there was initially a high chance of rain.  Hoping this continues! They had a really cool feature with two staffers zip past with two flags prior to the retrieval of the colors. The quarter mile zipline Look closely for the two flags on the zipline Mr Lucal has a dragon fly attached to his hat to ward off any potential mosquitos.

 Everyone made it through the first night with no issues. There were a few sprinkles but no major storms. Zane woke up the campsite with his bugle and then the boys cooked Mr Lucal's recipe of man eggs. Breakfast took a bit to ramp up but turned out good. They said theyre full and there was not much waste. Good planning!  The assigned crew is cleaning up now and the younglings (1st yr scouts) are having their initial class learning basic map and orienteering skills. Check in for Summer camp is at 1300 followed by the tour of the camp and swimming test for anyone that hadnt completed it yet. Be THERE! -Rich

The campsite is nice but the young men have to walk to refill the water and some of the adults got a lesson in geography and located where some streams developed through their tents during the storm.  Below are some pictures of the campsite

 Greetings All!!!   It was a very easy ride up. We are settling in and have just finished Tacos, Takkis and Oreos for desert!  We did have some rain blow through shortly after we got here but everyone is doing good!!  We have very limited cell and connection and having some blog connectivity issues but we will keep you all in the loop!    Tomorrow we will get a camp tour and check in at 1300, and get ready for the week!!  Everyone is having a blast and doing great!!!!
